The Project in Detail

The Yonne Valley contains a significant number of former gravel pits that are now water-filled. In most cases, these gravel pits are associated with large areas left as wasteland and poorly vegetated vacant land. The site of the Plaine de Nange, located in the municipalities of Rosoy and Etigny, is a perfect example. It was operated between 1974 and 2009. Today, it consists of a meadow of more than 10 hectares and a body of water of about 40 hectares.
