The project in detail

The solar farm of Peyrolles-en-Provence originated from an initiative by the town of the same name and a quarry operator to convert a water-filled gravel pit that had reached the end of its operational life.

As part of the development of the quarry rehabilitation project, a collaborative approach was established by the site operator and the commune. The floating solar park project, entrusted to Boralex, is being developed on the Chapeliers water body. It represents one of the first steps in the site’s conversion. The project development took place over four years, from 2016 to 2020.

Students Explore the Solar Farm in Peyrolles-en-Provence

As part of the “Génération Transition” program, organized by France Renouvelables, students were welcomed to the solar farm in Peyrolles-en-Provence to gain hands-on insight into how a renewable electricity generation site operates.

An Immersion into the World of Solar Energy

During their visit, the students gained a better understanding of the role of solar energy in the energy transition, as well as how photovoltaic systems work. This interactive session allowed them to explore the various stages of renewable electricity production and ask questions of the staff on site.

Raising Awareness Among Future Generations

Through Génération Transition, young people are invited to explore the challenges of the energy transition, the technologies associated with renewable energy, and the careers that contribute to their development. These encounters foster a better understanding of today’s energy solutions and the challenges of tomorrow.
