The Coucouron – La Laoune Project in Detail

The La Laoune photovoltaic project is located in Coucouron, Ardèche, on an ancient volcano, Mont de la Laoune. The project is set on municipal land between two peaks: Mont des Vertus and Calvaire.

Situated at an altitude of 1,265 meters, it is one of the highest-altitude photovoltaic projects in the region. The site was once covered by a forest intended for timber production, which was severely damaged by a storm. A clear-cut was initiated by the municipality, which later decided to develop a renewable energy project.
