The Escamps-Diges Project in Detail
Located in the NpV zone of the hamlet of Semilly, spanning the municipalities of Escamps and Diges, this project was initiated by the farmers themselves.
The plots within the study area are currently cultivated (cereals and fallow land), but these agricultural soils are of very low agronomic quality and difficult to work. Yields have not met the farmers’ expectations.
After an agreement among the various stakeholders, feasibility studies were launched in early 2023 to prepare a comprehensive impact assessment.
The project is designed for a capacity of around 28 MWp. The future solar park is expected to produce 32 GWh annually, equivalent to the electricity consumption of nearly 15,000 people.
Once operational, the project will enable:
- Maintaining agricultural activity on the site through diversification by one of the young farmers in the study area;
- Adaptation to climate change: protection of animals from rain, shade, and improved grass regrowth;
- Production of decarbonized energy.
