About the Crayssac Project

The Lot department (46) contains a significant number of former quarries, some of which are associated with large areas left as wasteland and poorly vegetated vacant land. The study area for the solar park includes two former quarries as well as two nearing the end of their exploitation. Due to these characteristics, the study area is well suited to hosting a renewable electricity production project: ground-mounted photovoltaic solar power.

Boralex’s development teams, drawing on extensive knowledge of the region thanks to its agency and maintenance center located in Avignonet-Lauragais since the early 2010s—just two hours from the municipality of Crayssac—identified this site as ideal for deploying solar energy in Crayssac and approached local officials to share the potential of the targeted area.
