Project Details

Boralex is currently studying an agrivoltaic project in the municipality of Collorec, approximately 2 km northwest of the town center, in a location known as Kerrichard.

Having operated in the region for nearly 20 years through the Leign ar Gasprenn wind farm, located near the site, Boralex is continuing its commitment to renewable energy alongside local stakeholders.

The project aims to combine cattle ranching with renewable electricity generation at a single site. The solar panels would be installed on elevated structures, allowing the animals to continue grazing beneath the installations.

This project aims to mitigate the effects of droughts on pastures, help the livestock industry adapt to climate change, provide shade for the animals during hot periods, protect them from certain adverse weather conditions, ensure the long-term sustainability of livestock farming, and generate local renewable electricity.

The project is being developed in collaboration with the affected farmers, the municipality of Collorec, government agencies, and various local stakeholders.

Before submitting a building permit application, several studies are conducted to gain a better understanding of the site and to design a project tailored to the local area. These studies focus in particular on the agricultural, environmental, landscape, technical, and hydraulic aspects of the project. The results of these studies will help refine the project and adapt its layout to the characteristics of the site and its surroundings.
