An Inspiring Human and Professional Journey
For Noah Jourdain, a wind turbine maintenance technician at the Apuiat Wind Farm, every step of his journey has led him to this new beginning. Originally from the Innu community of Uashat mak Mani-utenam, Noah made the decision to transform his personal and professional path by enrolling in a training program designed specifically for First Nations participants. After overcoming personal challenges and embracing a new direction, he became part of the first cohort of Innu technicians trained for the Apuiat project — a customized program combining technical expertise with cultural understanding. This program not only benefits its participants — it strengthens the entire team and the project itself.
Developing Talent: A Core Commitment at Boralex
At Boralex, talent development is a cornerstone of our mission. Our tailored training programs, such as the one developed for Innu technicians at the Apuiat Wind Farm, aim to provide participants with practical, transferable skills while celebrating their culture and identity.
These initiatives go beyond technical training. They include hands-on support to remove barriers to employment — for example, helping candidates obtain a driver’s license, which is essential for work on site, or finding personalized solutions to meet their individual needs.
Stéphanie Pinette-Simard, Indigenous Relations Coordinator and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Leader, plays a key role in this process, guiding participants through each stage and building strong connections with Indigenous partner businesses.
Building a Sustainable Energy Future Together
These programs not only help fill key positions within our operations but also strengthen pride, inclusion, and engagement among employees within their communities. Each learning path is designed to create long-term opportunities, foster inclusion, and prepare the next generation of leaders in renewable energy.
For participants like Noah Jourdain, this program has been a powerful springboard toward a rewarding and sustainable career. For Boralex, it’s a way to build stronger, more diverse teams that are deeply connected to the communities where we operate — while advancing local and regional energy development.
The Apuiat Wind Farm: A Model Partnership with Innu Communities
The Apuiat Wind Farm, located on Quebec’s North Shore, is the result of a unique partnership between Boralex and nine Innu communities, including Uashat mak Mani-utenam. This collaboration reflects a shared vision: to build an inclusive, sustainable energy sector that delivers tangible benefits for both communities and the broader region.

Partnerships That Shape a Sustainable Future
The growth of renewable energy at Boralex is built on strong partnerships with the communities where we operate. By working hand in hand with First Nations, supporting training, and empowering local talent, we’re building lasting projects that generate real benefits — for our partners, our people, and the planet.
- Through this shared vision and mutual commitment, Boralex continues to advance a sustainable, inclusive, and value-driven energy future for all.
