Boralex announces changes to senior management
Kingsey Falls (Québec),
September 3, 2003 - Mr. Bernard Lemaire, Executive Chairman
of the Board of Boralex inc. announces the departure of Mr.
Jacques Gauthier as President and Chief Executive Officer and
director of Boralex Inc.
Mr. Gauthier is leaving the company for personal
reasons and to pursue new projects elsewhere.
Mr. Lemaire and the Board of directors of Boralex
wish to thank Mr. Gauthier for his contributions to the growth
of the company during the five years of his presidency and wish
him all the best in his new endeavours.
Mr. Lemaire also announces the nomination of Mr.
Claude Audet as President and Chief Operating Officer of the
Company effective as of today. Mr. Lemaire will assume the role
of Chief Executive Officer effective immediately.
Mr. Audet is presently Vice-President, Environment
for Cascades Inc. Mr. Audet joined Cascades in 1989 as Director
of Environmental Services. Before joining Cascades, M. Audet
worked for the Provincial Minister of the Environment for close
to fifteen years in the pulp and paper and the forestry sectors.
Since his arrival at Cascades, Mr. Audet has been intimately
involved in all aspects of environmental management throughout
the company. Among other things, Mr. Audet has overseen a multitude
of capital projects which have been required over the past years
in order to ensure compliance with environmental regulations
in every country where Cascades is active. Mr. Audet was also
instrumental in the development and the implementation of an
Environmental Mission for the Cascades group as a whole.
In commenting on this nomination Mr. Bernard
Lemaire stated “ We are very pleased with the nomination
of M. Audet. M. Audet is an exceptional candidate who, through
his expertise and his devotion, has made a significant contribution
to the success of Cascades over the years of his involvement
with that company. Having participated directly in the development
of Boralex since its creation, Mr. Audet brings a solid understanding
of the energy business and the company’s operations. Also,
Mr. Audet’s long involvement in the forestry industry
will be particularly advantageous in the management of the biomass
fired power stations. We wish him every success in his new functions”.
Boralex operates 12 power stations
from wood-residue, natural gas, hydroelectricity and wind in
Quebec, the United States and in France. Also, Boralex Power
Income Fund, which is managed by Boralex and in which Boralex
holds an important position, operates eight power stations in
Quebec from the same sources of fuel. Together, these two entities
have nearly 230 employees and have a total installed capacity
of 360 MW. Boralex’s stock trades on the Toronto Stock
Exchange under the ticker symbol BLX.A and Boralex Power Income
Fund’s stock trades under the ticker symbol BPT.UN.
