Expansion in mutual respect and in the respect of our environment is the underlying motto behind Boralex's entire philosophy and explains why the Corporation focuses most of its operations on the production of green energy (renewable and wood-residue energy).

Furthermore, when the Corporation develops the natural gas energy sector, it makes sure that it obtains thermal efficiency higher than average in the industry, by using the cogeneration process. As a result, there is optimal use of a natural resource.

Aquatic fauna and wildlife, as well as air quality, are all ongoing concerns in the daily operation of the Corporation's power stations.

On this issue, Boralex is particularly proud of the actions taken for the protection of the salmon and rivers, in particular in the Rimouski region. Boralex is pleased to have contributed concretely to the development of the Rimouski River and of the salmon resource.

In conjunction with the Association des pêcheurs sportifs de saumon de la rivière Rimouski, Boralex took part in the planting of more than 700,000 fry developed in a fish-breeding equipment in its hydroelectric power station in the last five year. This is a good example of harmonization and partnership between associations devoted to the protection of the aquatic fauna and private enterprise.

Boralex's environment efforts are actively devoted to other initiatives of this type. For example, Boralex acts as a partner of the Northern Wildlife Fund whose goals are, among others, to finance directly concrete projects having to do with three issues: scientific research, technological transfer and the restoration of fauna habitats in Northern Québec.

The operation of Boralex's sites also makes it possible to recycle more than 2.5 million tons of wood residues, 500,000 of which come from alternative sources, to supply its thermal and cogeneration power stations. This resource is reusable and has a high energy potential.

Boralex remains a Corporation that is concerned about its human resources and its social and community environment. Its action is in keeping with the major issues of the new millennium.
