The future according to Boralex
Working toward its goal of expanding
while being profitable in deregulated
markets or in the process of becoming
so, such as those of Ontario, the United States and France,
Boralex is actively trying to develop new power
station projects.
The following projects should be completed in the coming months:
In France:
Boralex to triple its Wind Energy
Installed Capacity in France
In Québec:
Expanding and optimizing recovery

Boralex to triple its Wind Energy
Installed capacity in France
Boralex inc., through its French subsidiary,
announces the construction and commissioning of two new wind
power sites of 38 wind turbines located in France, for an installed
capacity of 57.0 MW. These sites, located in the Massif Central,
will bring Boralex’s total wind power capacity in France
to 81.0 MW.
The project, which will be 95% owned by Boralex,
will require an investment of more than C$135 million (83.5
million euros). The French corporation Perfect Wind will own
the residual 5%. Project’s funding is being provided,
in part, by an important French bank. All energy generated will
be sold to Électricité de France under 15-year
contracts.
One of the wind power sites, located on
the Plateau d’Ally in the communes of Ally and Mercoeur
en Haute-Loire, will be comprised of 26 wind turbines, each
with a capacity of 1.5 MW. The other one, located on the Plateau
of Cham de Cham Longe, in the communes of Saint-Étienne-de-Ludgarès
and Astet in Ardèche will be comprised of 12 wind turbines,
also with a capacity of 1.5 MW each. The commercial commissioning
is anticipated for next December.
Expanding and optimizing recovery at Secure
Copeaux de bois Secure collects and sorts
urban wood to produce ground wood intended to supply Boralex's
thermal power stations located in Maine and to be processed
into recycled wood panels.
This sorting centre owned and operated by Boralex has an annual
processing capacity of 70,000 tons of residual wood and is located
in Montréal.
Considering the increasing needs of supply of thermal power
stations, Boralex plans to double its processing capacity, raising
it to 100,000 tons a year. The expansion of the site should
start during 2005.
The second stage of the project consists of implementing sorting
installations that will optimize the existing equipment. This
stage of the project should be completed near the end of 2005.
