As the most important producer of energy from wood-residue in North America, Boralex contributes to a more responsible management of forest residues and various types of wood waste by recycling around 1,590,000 tons of wood residues each year.

The wood residues used include forest residues such as bark, tree tops and branches. Recycled wood waste includes cable drums, pallets, recycled wood, railroad ties, tree stumps, which otherwise would be landfilled at very high cost. In addition, forest industry also finds here a worthwhile destination for its paper-mill sludge and used oil used as fuel.

Energy from wood-reside energy is first-class
green energy, making it possible to develop alternative sources of energy and, at the same time, to recycle material.

Boralex owns, manages and operates six wood-residue thermal power stations, located in northeastern United States. These power stations have a combined installed capacity of 204 MW.

Here is the list of these power stations :

1. Ashland
2. Chateaugay
3. Fort Fairfield
4. Livermore Falls
5. Stratton
6. Staceyville

In addition to the power stations, Boralex owns and operates an urban wood recovery and sorting centre of an annual processing capacity of 70,000 tons of residual wood, located in Montréal: Copeaux de bois Secure S.E.C.
