With the exception of the Joudron power station, they are operated
by remote control thanks to Boralex's ultra-modern control centre,
located in Kingsey Falls.
In addition to these eight power stations, it should be noted
that Boralex acts as the manager of two sites owned by R.S.P.
Hydro, located in Pont Rouge, Québec.
An expertise that stands out
In 1993, as Hydro-Québec put out a call for tender APR-91,
almost all the waterways having hydroelectric potential were
already taken up by dams, most of them obsolete or abandoned.
It is in this context that Boralex has shown its expertise in
the refurbishing of existing
sites to make them operational and
bring them in line with the environmental standards and the
requirements of the communities.
Engineers and environment specialists pool their know-how to
reconcile the economic interests of energy production with the
quality of life of the local population as well as the management,
protection and development of
the aquatic fauna of the waterways
concerned.
