Boralex's
expansion strategy focuses on diversification both geographically and through
its means of production, targeted primarily on green and renewable energy.
At the international level, small hydroelectric power stations and thermal power
stations are a means of choice for generating energy in compliance with economic,
social and environmental requirements.
Expanding
in mutual respect and in the respect of our environment
In addition to their operational flexibility, adaptability and relatively short
installation time, these power stations are a clean
source of energy. They have minimal environmental impact
associated with large-scale hydroelectric developments, which often require the
diversion of waterways, relocation of infrastructures and installation of long-distance
energy-transmission lines.
Since its acquisition
by Cascades in December 1995, Boralex has become one of the largest private producers
of electricity in Canada.
Outlook
In the coming years, Boralex intends to develop within specific niches, in line
with its major forces
and its business plan. Boralex is committed to maintaining a profitable growth
in deregulated markets
or in the process of becoming so, such as those of Ontario, the United States
and France.
With a view to continue producing green
energy, Boralex's goal is to increase the number of
its hydroelectric and thermal power stations in northeastern North America.
The diversification of its various types of energy production is a means
to favour increased profitability
and sustainable incomes for the Corporation. Boralex will also seek to consolidate
its leadership in the cogeneration sector by establishing power plants in industrial
areas.
